Types of Transplants

No matter where your stem cells are harvested (see this post), there are three types of transplants.

In allogeneic transplants, patients receive stem cells from a sibling, parent, or another unrelated donor. This was the type of transplant I had!

In an autologous transplant, patients receive their own stem cells.

In a syngeneic transplant, the patient receives stem cells from their identical twin.
